HORIBA MIRA Awarded Gold for Outstanding Support to the Armed Forces Community
HORIBA MIRA has been awarded the Gold Award in the Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme for its work in support of the defence community.
Representing the highest badge of honour, the scheme encourages employers to support defence and inspire others to do the same. It encompasses bronze, silver and gold awards for employer organisations which pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to defence and the armed forces community, and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant. In 2021, HORIBA MIRA was one of 15 organisations in the West Midlands to gain the scheme’s highest award. A total of 140 organisations have achieved the gold standard nationwide with HORIBA MIRA progressing to the level from silver, which the company has held since 2016.
Declan Allen, Managing Director at HORIBA MIRA, said
“MIRA has long had a history linked to the defence sector and we are proud to achieve this award acknowledging our ongoing support to the armed forces community and defence sector. Having recently celebrated Armed Forces Day, established our internal ‘Life Links’ team member groups, heard from colleagues about their careers in our company initiative ‘Life Stories’, and maintained our commitment to key moments in time such as armistice day, we are committed to continue this work as part of building the very best team at HORIBA MIRA, and my thanks go to everyone involved in those programmes.”
Among the measures of support for Armed Forces colleagues at HORIBA MIRA, is the Reserve Forces Training and Mobilisation policy. Army Reservist, Nick Bolstridge, HORIBA MIRA’s EMC Test Technician, said:
is really supportive and so there is often scope to flex my shifts in order to make my commitments to the army work also. I’m also supported with paid time off to take part in the training camps each year.
In the relatively short time I’ve been at HORIBA MIRA the training has been first class, I’ve developed so much and that’s been excellent, and of course I’ve been able to bring the qualities the military are well known for into the job too.
