The VCA approval certifies that HORIBA MIRA’s test processes are to the highest standards, the HORIBA OBS-ONE Portable Emissions Measurement System and all affiliated equipment is calibrated at the recommended intervals and the team is trained to deliver the work to an exceptional level. It also ensures the certification of heavy-duty vehicles comply with standardised legislative requirements, such as Euro 6 and will streamline the vehicle approval process by reducing the time needed for test inspections by the VCA.

Throughout the review process, the VCA also appraised HORIBA MIRA’s quality management system which successfully passed, with the team commended for their robust project management processes.

Providing accreditation for on-road heavy-duty vehicle testing is a new endorsement provided by the VCA, and is the latest certification for HORIBA MIRA, who already hold VCA approval for its light-duty vehicle testing, and is a certified laboratory for emissions testing in both its ambient facility and climatic facility.

Henry Howes, Powertrain Vehicle Emissions Leader, said:

“We’re very proud to have received further accreditation from the VCA. This means our customers can be confident that our leading team, facilities and procedures follow regulatory requirements ensuring each test programme we deliver is to the highest standard.”

HORIBA MIRA’s comprehensive on-road emissions test service includes robust test procedures, in-service conformity testing, highly accurate measurement equipment and a set of test routes spanning the entire range of environmental boundary conditions. This ensures that vehicle makers can achieve RDE sign-off or monitor on-going compliance with data-driven confidence.
