HORIBA MIRA Apprentices Raise the Most Money for Charity at the Hinckley Soapbox Derby 2015
HORIBA MIRA’s graduates and apprentices joined forces again this year to take part in the Hinckley Soapbox Derby.
For the second year in succession the team were able to secure the prize for the most money raised for charity, after successfully securing £1027.19 for Rainbows – the East Midlands hospice who help life-limited children and their families with care and support.
Building upon the success of last year’s fundraising efforts, cake sales across MIRA Technology Park again proved popular, with £481.91 raised from the sale of delicious goodies alone. Additional backing from organisations including Hinckley Cycle Centre, Deeley, Hinckley Island Hotel, Domino’s Hinckley, Y Not Festival, La Casa Loco, Pottery Shed and Olive Catering also played a big part in the fundraising total.
Connor Smith – IT Software Developer Apprentice at HORIBA MIRA said,
“On behalf of everyone that was involved with the Soapbox this year at HORIBA MIRA, we’d all like to say a massive thank you to everybody that donated, no matter how big or small their donation was. Everyone that contributed has made a positive impact upon the Children’s lives at Rainbows Hospice and we are incredibly proud to support this amazing organisation”.
The money generated from the team’s hard work will go towards supporting the incredible team of people at Rainbows who help to relieve symptoms, improve quality of life, support parents and siblings through their bereavements and care for children until the end.
