John Wood, MIRA’s Managing Director from 1991-2008 was awarded an MBE for his services to Mechanical Engineering in the Queen’s Birthday Honours at the weekend.
After retiring from the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1987, John joined RAC Motoring Services as Technical Director before his move to MIRA’s Midlands based headquarters.
Following 17 successful years at the helm of the company John retired as Managing Director of MIRA before taking up his position as the 125th President of the IMechE.
During his career John also spent 10 years as the Chairman of Formula Student.
