MIRA Forms Partnership with Thatcham Research
MIRA has announced it has formed a partnership with Thatcham Research, enabling both businesses the ability to offer a joined up approach to deliver vehicle safety testing.
Together, MIRA and Thatcham – who are the UK Motor Insurers’ automotive research centre, and who also administer the insurance Group Rating system on behalf of the Association of British Insurers (ABI) – will offer a full spectrum of services and facilities to develop and test vehicles to the latest industry standards and Euro NCAP protocols.
As part of the newly-formed partnership, MIRA will be able to complement Thatcham’s work in researching active safety systems and passive safety testing through its expertise in Full Vehicle Safety Development. The arrangement will enable Thatcham to tap into MIRA’s engineering capabilities and world-class facilities, and for MIRA to access Thatcham’s own specialist knowledge and facilities in active vehicle safety.
Through the partnership, MIRA will also work alongside Euro NCAP, the industry body that provides consumers with a realistic and independent assessment of the safety performance of some of the most popular cars sold in Europe, offering customers an extra level of reassurance.
Lee Thompson, Technical Sales Manager – Vehicle Safety, at MIRA, said:
“The recently-formed collaboration between MIRA and Thatcham will allow us to collectively provide a complete service when it comes to testing to the latest Euro NCAP requirements. Through this partnership, we now have a platform to proactively provide a whole test and development solution, with the additional ability to consort with Euro NCAP and work with them in the development of future testing and assessment protocols.”
