MIRA Technology Park to Showcase its Offer at MIPIM 2013
MIRA Technology Park, the 1.75 million sq. ft (162,500 sq m) technology park development located in the Midlands is to showcase its offer at the world’s leading International property event, MIPIM, next week.
MIRA’s participation at the event, which takes place in Cannes from 12 March to 15 March, follows the landmark completion of the first phase of the £300M development, site’s 43,000ft2 (3,995 sq m) Control Centre last November, which has already attracted a number of high profile International businesses to the site including Bosch Engineering, Ashok Leyland and Norgren.
Terry Spall, Commercial Director, MIRA Technology Park Ltd, said:
“MIRA Technology Park has been purposefully created to offer international businesses the ideal local for their European research and development operations, providing direct access to the UK’s most comprehensive suite of transport sector resources and facilities.
“MIPIM is one of the most important events within the property industry and will allow us to showcase what MIRA Technology Park – and what the Leicestershire region as a whole – has to offer.”
Andy Macdonald, Development Director at MIRA Technology Park Ltd, added:
“In securing planning permission for the development of a further 1.5 million sq ft (139,500 sq m) within the Technology Park, we are building on the established success of MIRA’s operation and the presence of over 35 of the world’s most influential engineering firms on site. Having made significant progress over the past 18 months, and having successfully completed phase one of the development, we are looking to maintain momentum and continue the delivery of new facilities to keep pace with the strong demand for bespoke R&D space within the park. In the current market this highlights the unique offer of MIRA Technology Park, and the global strength of MIRA’s industry sector.”
MIRA Technology Park will be exhibiting alongside the Leicester & Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP) whose delegation will include the Leicester City Mayor Peter Soulsby, with both parties seeking to raise awareness within, and attract potential investment from, International businesses.
Recognised by the UK Government for its growth potential and attractiveness to inward investors, MIRA Technology Park was awarded Enterprise Zone in 2011 and has since hosted a number of visits from Government ministers, most recently the Rt Hon Dr Vince Cable, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills.
The development, which aims to create 2000 jobs in its first ten years, expects to eventually house businesses from across the automotive, aerospace, rail, defence and associated digital technology sectors.
LLEP Chair Andrew Bacon said,
“MIPIM is the most important event within the property industry. It enables us to push Leicester and Leicestershire and most importantly, our Enterprise Zone to the forefront of a world stage.
“In the current climate, having an Enterprise Zone is priceless opportunity for our area. We will be using the unique, exceptional networking, showcasing and commercial environment that MIPIM offers, to attract international transport and automotive businesses that could lead to significant inward investment opportunities at MIRA Technology Park.”
MIPIM, the world’s property market, brings together the most influential players from all international property sectors, offering unrivalled access to the greatest number of development sources and capital worldwide.
